GOLDEN, Colo. (April 24, 2026) — Visit Golden, The Golden Mill and YoColorado invite dog lovers and their four-legged companions to help kick off a Golden summer at the season’s first Yappy Hour, Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5 - 8 p.m. at The Golden Mill. The event will feature announcements and celebrations that highlight Golden’s reputation as one of Colorado’s most dog-friendly destinations.

2027 Goldens in Golden Date Announcement
Visit Golden will officially announce the 2027 date for the beloved Goldens in Golden event. The annual gathering draws thousands of Golden Retrievers and their humans from across the country to celebrate community, connection, and canine joy in downtown Golden.

Golden Summer & Monthly Yappy Hours Kick Off
The May 7 Yappy Hour also marks the launch of Visit Golden’s Golden Summer, a seasonal invitation for visitors to experience the town alongside their pups. From scenic trail walks and creekside strolls to dog-friendly patios and special events, summer is an ideal time to explore Golden with a canine companion. Monthly Yappy Hours at The Golden Mill will continue throughout the season providing a welcoming space for dogs and their owners to gather on the first Thursday of each month. Each event will feature adoptable dogs from local rescues, alongside dog-friendly programming provided by Sneffels Shelter Shop.

Eight Thousand Dollars Donated to Local Animal Organizations
During the event, YoColorado, the official merchandise partner of the 2026 Goldens in Golden, will present two $4,000 donations—totaling $8,000—to the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies and Foothills Animal Shelter.

The donations represent a portion of proceeds from 2026 Goldens in Golden merchandise sales. Through this initiative, YoColorado continues its commitment to supporting the animals and organizations that make Colorado communities stronger.
