NORTH GOLDEN….If you haven’t been to North Golden in a while, you’re in for a surprise. And an adventure!
Why not start at Deep Roots Winery, a drop-dead gorgeous brand new tasting room on Catamount Drive with an outdoor deck of mountain views and more than a dozen wines made on the premises. The winery occupies part of the former showroom of Cleveland Creek Lodge and Log Furniture, so it is an amazing space of natural woods. Cleveland Creek has been making the highest quality furniture from locally and responsibly sourced materials for nearly 20 years, and they still have a showroom next door where you’ll marvel at their creative rustic wood creations and meet their friendly dogs too.
It's a short hop or walk to Holidaily Brewing Company, a company committed to crafting exceptional-tasting gluten-free beer. You can try a selection of award-winning beers in their tasting room, in the production area surrounded by huge brewing kettles or on their outdoor patio overlooking the mountains.
Another North Golden business is Spyderco Factory Outlet Store. In 1981, Golden based Spyderco introduced their first folding knife, the C01 Worker. That knife pioneered the concept of a round hole in the blade for one-handed opening, a clip on the handle for carry at the top of the pocket, and the option of a serrated edge for aggressive cutting performance. Those features revolutionized the knife industry and literally defined the form of the modern folding knife. Hundreds of thousands of people now own Spyderco knives and the factory outlet store (in addition to offering great deals) also has historic and priceless knives on display.
Closer to downtown Golden is Canyon Point, a beautiful shopping/dining/business complex with gorgeous views of the mountains surrounding Golden. The complex has ample free parking and a tasty choice of dining and drinking establishments offering worldwide cuisine. Step inside Ali Baba Grill for Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine and be transported to a romantic Arabian Nights fantasy with décor of lamps and fountains and billowing ceiling tapestries, just like the scene captured in the photo at the top of the page. Pho Canyon Point brings you delightful noodle soups, stir fried dishes, rice plates and other traditional Vietnamese entrees. Next door Amir Grill brings you the best in Middle Eastern Cuisine. The nearby Los Marcelos Mexican Restaurant, a family-owned home to breakfast burritos, two-for-one Margaritas, and all types of Mexican specialties, while the joint Big Daddy Rustic Pizza and Big Daddy Bagels gives you a choice between slices, original full pies, and loaded bagel sandwiches.
Of course, two popular standbys are also in the area, Cannonball Creek Brewery, one of the most awarded and honored craft breweries in Metro Denver, and the “burger haven” of Cast Iron Tavern. Plan ahead or arrive early to visit either of these North Golden staples – they often fill up with hungry and thirsty locals!
