Do not miss award-winning Geology Museum Collections Manager Ed Raines’ in-depth look at the history and geology of significant Colorado mining districts in June and August at the Library.

Join us as Ed Raines explores the history and geology of the Creede Mining District in Colorado on Thursday, June 14 and June 21. On Thursday, August 2 and August 9, Ed will explore the history and geology of the Gilman District, Colorado. The talks are from 4:00 – 5:00 pm in the Library’s Boettcher Room.

Ed is a geologist, mineralogist, and award-winning mining historian and recently served as President of the Mining History Association. He has written numerous papers, articles and a book on the geology, mineralogy, and mining history of many Colorado mining districts. Several of these have received special awards. He also received a special award for his efforts in the historic preservation of the Leadville Mining District. Ed is a popular speaker and has given many lectures on mining history and geology in Colorado and across the country. He has organized and managed annual conferences with field trips for the Mining History Association at Leadville, Creede, and Gold Hill.
