Join the Golden Lions Club for the 4th of July community celebration in Lions Park on 10th Street again this year. This is one of the major ways for the Lions to give back to the Golden community and our country. Activities start at noon and include free rides for the kids, face painting, and live music throughout the day.

Then just after dusk the City of Golden will put on a large fireworks display. The fireworks show is scheduled for 9:30 pm, conditions permitting. Beginning at 6 p.m., watch for updates about the status of the show on the City’s Facebook page or follow the city on Twitter @CityofGolden.

The best viewing spots will be in Lions Park, the ball fields at Lions Park or along the Creek. Lookout Mountain Road will be closed all day to everyone except residents.

2019 Bands

  • 12:00 - 3:00: Thunder and Rain (Bluegrass/Americana)
  • 3:30 - 6:00: Kerry Pastine and the Crime Scene (Rockabilly)
  • 6:30 - 9:15: Ryan Chrys & the Rough Cuts (Modern Outlaw Country)

In order to be able to provide free rides, music, and entertainment, Golden Lions will be selling raffle tickets starting in May. Proceeds from ticket sales are used to fund the event, and any excess goes back into community betterment projects. It is also a way for the community to support the Lions and what they do to make Golden a great place to live. For $5 each or five tickets for twenty dollars, you get a chance to win one of about 100+ prizes ranging from overnight stays at mountain casinos to the grand prize of $1000 donated by the Lions Club. Also, the tickets are printed with coupons that can be used for discounts at local merchants. You don’t have to be present to win. Winners are announced throughout the day with the grand-prize winner identified just before the fireworks.

The event is truly a community celebration and get-together supported by residents who buy raffle tickets and attend, the City which provides security and traffic control and puts on the fireworks, businesses which provide the raffle prizes, and the Golden Lions who put it all together. So when you see those guys in front of local businesses or at the Golden Farmers Market in their festive gold vests with raffle tickets in hand, make sure you become part of the celebration and buy some tickets. Most of all, come to Lions Park and have fun on the 4th of July! For more information, visit the Golden Lions Club website.

The celebration is designed to be a day for families, friends, and neighbors to get together at the beautiful park on 10th Street to picnic or purchase food and drink and enjoy all the festivities.
