Labor Day is a great way to recognize the contributions of the work force and take some time for outdoor recreation, find some affordable and  free things to do, and kick back with family and friends. Take that end-of-summer break in Golden where you can be sure that when you take to the road.

The Golden Farmer’s Market located along 10th Street is a family friendly, dog friendly place for strolling along the vendor booths that showcase savory, sweet, fresh and unique fare. The summer bounty is at its peak, and the Golden Farmers Market is a great way to enjoy the outdoors with friends and family.

Put in your tube, fishing rod, kayak, or feet for a cold rush of sparkling Clear Creek, located right along 10th Street and next to the Farmers Market. This waterway is the central hub of Golden’s outdoor recreation, and you’ll find Lion’s park nearby with plenty of outdoor equipment for the kids, picnic tables, grills and spectacular Golden scenery. The Clear Creek Trail is ripe for plenty of free activities this Labor Day weekend.

Walk into downtown Golden and take some photos on the Washington Street Bridge.  There are two parking garages along Jackson Street where you can park for free for the first two hours while visiting Washington Avenue for some shopping and people watching.  The Coors Brewery Tours and gift shop will be closed from Thursday, August 30 through Monday, September 3. They will reopen for tours at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 6th.
