Even when covered in snow, Goldenites always find ways to spend time in our stunning outdoor surroundings. For many residents and visitors, snowshoeing and sledding offer popular alternatives for outdoor activities making the most of our natural landscape and countless parks.

When winter rolls around, many of our hiking trails are great spots to snowshoe. One of the local favorites is at the Lookout Mountain Nature Center, with 1.5 miles of trails perfect for both snowshoers and cross-country skiers. The Golden Gate Canyon State Park is another excellent location for both beginner and expert snowshoers who want to explore the multiple trails offering scenic vistas across 12 trails.

If you are a family or someone looking for a little less strenuous for exercise but equally as fun in fresh powder, look no further than sledding! With gradual elevation changes to some steeper inclines, Golden’s trails and parks offer great sledding opportunities for snow day family outings to gatherings with friends!

Check out one of our many local gear shops for more information on where to rent snowshoes or sleds and as always, feel free to talk to our locals! Goldenites love sharing information on their favorite spots.
