Art Museums in Golden

In downtown Golden, the recently renovated Foothills Art Center Astor House brings contemporary art into a setting rich with history. Housed in the newly revitalized Astor House, a historic frontier boarding house, the center features a year-round rotation of exhibitions from Colorado-based and nationally recognized artists. The space also hosts private events and gallery tours. While the Creative Campus has community workshops, youth and adult classes.

Make sure to visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum to immerse yourself in quilting as both a historical craft and a contemporary art form. Its permanent collection includes over 800 quilts, ranging from 19th-century hand-stitched pieces to experimental works pushing the boundaries of textile arts. The Sandra Dallas Library is home to one of the country's most comprehensive quilting literature collections.

Just down the street, Golden Quilt Company, a full-service quilt shop, offers a variety of fabrics, books, patterns, threads, quilting tools, and classes, making it the perfect place to continue your quilting journey.

Spirits in the Wind Gallery specializes in a thoughtfully curated selection of pottery, paintings, sculpture, and jewelry, much of which is created by Native American and Western artists. The gallery occupies a historic storefront on Washington Avenue.

With more than 30 public artworks, the Golden Public Art Walk spans downtown and outlying neighborhoods, featuring sculptures, murals, and site-specific installations. At the Fossil Trace Golf Clubhouse, Broncobuster’s Holiday captures the joyful movement of Western life, while Strength, Dedication, Discipline, Determination (SD3), located at 19th Street and 6th Avenue, honors perseverance as cyclists prepare to ascend Lookout Mountain.
