Camping in Golden
Golden, nestled at the base of the magnificent Rocky Mountains, is in close proximity to three great parks: Golden Gate Canyon State Park, Clear Creek Canyon Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Golden Gate Canyon State Park
Only 30 miles from Denver, located at 92 Crawford Gulch Rd. Golden, CO 80403, Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers such amenities as electrical hook-ups and tent-sites in two different campgrounds, stocked fishing ponds and picnic sites.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park Camping
Golden Gate Canyon State Park covers over 12,000 acres of forest, rocky peaks and meadows. Camping and some lodging, is available inside the park. Golden Gate Canyon State Park is 15 minutes and about 15 miles from Golden, CO.
Reverend's Ridge Campground
This campground features 97 sites and accommodates trailers, pickup campers and tents. Sites can accommodate RV's, rooftop/vehicle camping, and tents.
Facilities include flush toilets, shower and laundry facilities, a dump station, and some electrical hookups. Reverend's Ridge Campground is open year-round.
Aspen Meadows Campground
Aspen Meadows features 35 basic, tent-only campsites. Facilities include a water pump, vault toilets, and designated campsites with tables, fire rings, and high use tent pads.
Backcountry Camping
For those who want a more primitive and somewhat unique camping experience, there are four backcountry shelters and 20 backcountry tent sites. All sites are walk in access (approx. 1-2.5 miles one way.) A reservation is now required for all Backcountry camping.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park Lodging
Cabins
The five cabins, nestled between lush aspen groves and pine-covered hills, accommodate a maximum of six people.
Yurts
Two yurts offer the perfect escape as the skylights provide a window to the stars. The yurts also accommodate a maximum of six people.
In the summer, flush toilets, showers and running water are provided at Reverend's Ridge campground. In the winter, only flush toilets and running water are provided at Reverend's Ridge.
Works Ranch Cabin and Group Camping Area
This camping area consists of a camper cabin and group camping area. The two-room cabin includes a bedroom, a living room (with a wood burning fireplace), heating, electricity, food prep area, and a large deck. There is no running water in the cabin, water is provided through an outside spigot. The tent camping area includes two large picnic tables, two 20 foot by 20 foot high-use tent pads, and a double vault toilet.
Harmsen Ranch Guest House
This beautiful four bedroom, two bathroom guest house offers a full kitchen, linen service, and gas fireplaces.
All lodging allows easy access to trails, Panorama Point, and Dude's fishing hole.
Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park’s 415 square miles encompass and protect spectacular mountain environments. The park, founded in 1915, is only 50 miles and 1.5 hours from Golden. There is no lodging inside the park so camping reservations and lodging reservations in Golden are strongly recommended.
