• Golden’s Washington Avenue will be closed to traffic so leashed Goldens can strut their stuff on Golden’s main street and gather for photos under Golden’s famous Welcome Arch! 
• Several Official Group Photos under Golden’s Welcome Arch, at Washington Avenue and 12th Street. 
• Free Pup Cups. 
• Pet Vendor Village, showcasing cool Golden offerings.
• Official Goldens in Golden merch, made by Golden’s own YoColorado, available online at GoldensinGolden.com and at the event. Some of the merchandise proceeds will benefit the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies and Foothills Animal Shelter. 
• Opening and After Parties, Events and Specials: It’s a paw-ty time for our furry friends all weekend! Visit HERE for current Golden events, the 2026 promotions to be announced a few weeks before the event.
• Selfies + Fun Photo Ops, lots of stops throughout town for great photo ops with your pup.
• Goldens in Golden is weather-dependent and will be canceled if there is dangerously cold, icy or severe weather. Please take into consideration when making travel plans.
• Are Only Golden Retrievers Allowed? The event is a celebration of Golden Retrievers although nobody is “checking IDs.” Only leashed, trained, and friendly dogs are allowed.

History of Goldens in Golden

The first Goldens in Golden was held in 2019. Visit Golden created the event to encourage more visitation in the slower winter months by inviting Golden Retrievers and their humans to gather under the city’s iconic Welcome to Golden Arch in honor of National Golden Retriever Day. The event has grown into a major event that attracts thousands of Goldens and their humans from across Colorado - and the United States! Goldens in Golden is “heaven on Earth” for Golden Retrievers and their owners, and you can expect a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of camaraderie among Golden lovers.
