Apex Trail is part of the Jefferson County trail system, with eastern access located in the City of Golden off County Road 93/Heritage Road just before it meets US Highway 40/West Colfax Avenue. The trail is 2.3 miles long and gains up to 1,500 feet in elevation, featuring steep, exposed sections with views of Denver and Golden. At Apex Park, trail access depends on the calendar date, so visitors must check the date before arriving. Enchanted Forest and Magic Mountain are directional-use trails, while Poco Calle, Rocker, Paydirt, and Smelter are multi-directional connector trails; however, bicyclists must ride in a single downhill (eastbound) direction when biking is allowed. On even-numbered dates, these trails are open to bicycles only with no hikers or equestrians permitted. On odd-numbered dates, the trails are reserved for hikers and equestrians and closed to bicycles.
