Goldens in Golden has taken place since 2019.
This weekend, hundreds of Golden Retrievers and their humans gathered in the streets of historic downtown Golden, Colorado, for the annual Goldens in Golden event. The tradition has brought together Golden Retrievers and their owners since 2019.
The city's official website says the event was created "to encourage more visitation in the slower winter months by inviting Golden Retrievers and their humans to gather under the city’s iconic Welcome to Golden Arch in honor of National Golden Retriever Day."
The event also helps boost profits for small businesses located in the area. "It's a wonderful convergence of people and dogs, and we love celebrating National Golden Retriever Day here," Robin Fleischmann, economic development manager for Golden, told Denver 7. "This event not only brings joy to the community but also introduces people to Golden, a town that may be a little quieter at this time of year."
The Goldens in Golden event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The annual gathering started at Golden Mill’s pre-party with a campfire cocktail bar and breakfast burritos. Attendees could also purchase Goldens in Golden merch, for which a portion of the proceeds go to the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies and Foothills Animal Shelter, the website states.
