Celebrate Father’s Day in an outdoor mecca that also happens to be family-friendly, Golden. It’s a dad’s paradise. Here are a few ideas to get your plans started…
Golf and Dine - Book a tee time at Fossil Trace and follow it up with a classy lunch at Footprints Restaurant or Vice Kitchen. If dad hasn’t yet played Fossil Trace, he may especially enjoy holes 11-15 where dinosaurs walked over 64-million years ago. Triceratops footprints, as well as other prehistoric creatures’ fossils can be viewed adjacent to the golf course’s 12th green.
Fish and Play - Fly fish Clear Creek near Lion’s Park and let the kids play at the creekside playground. When dad loses all of his flys, be sure to stop into Golden River Sports or the Golden Fly Shop to grab him some more.
Bikes, Beer, Burritos or Bust - Rent e-Bikes from Adventure West or Pedego and go for a casual family cruise along Clear Creek or hit the Golden Bike Park together and let dad enjoy a beer afterwards at the neighboring family-friendly New Terrain Brewery. The bike park entertains riders of all levels, so don’t feel intimidated if you’re 
bringing young kids along or if you’re new to mountain biking. Even better, tell dad to go ride his favorite trail with his best dad-bud and meet him after for breakfast burritos from Bonfire Burritos or Café 13!
Dads, Dinosaurs & Trains - Dad will feel like a kid again as he marvels at dinosaur tracks at Dinosaur Ridge or climbs aboard a steam train at the Colorado Railroad Museum. You can even take him to the museum’s Father’s Day weekend event where he can check out antique tractors, diesel motorcars, hit-and-miss engines, Model A and Model T automobiles. There will be food, family-friendly activities, behind-the-scenes tours, and train rides every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Afterwards, why not get some ice cream at Happy Cones at the Golden Mill to continue the fun?
Golden Dad Gifts - As you’re desperately searching the internet for that perfect gift for dad, remember our local shops and find something there instead! How about a tune-up from one of Golden’s many bike shops; a bottle of spirits from Golden Moon, State 38 Distillery or Local Distilling or growlers from a Golden craft brewery; or visit a Golden store like Blue Moose Trading Company which sells locally made "Adventure" license plates or Bent Gate Mountaineering for premiere outdoor gear or one of Golden’s newest shops, Roots, for cool whiskey themed coffee and cocktail kit items.
