Introduction to Weaving Hand Brooms

Come Join this Unique Fiber Arts Workshop!
Learn to weave your own turkey wing and hawk’s tail hand broom in this introductory, hands-on class. Open to all beginners. We will discuss the tools, materials, and techniques for crafting beautiful and functional brooms that will have you sweeping out the corners in style. The instructions for placing a hanging loop on their brooms so they can be displayed on a wall will be given in class. Participants will leave with two completed hand brooms! And these brooms are totally functional! They’re beautiful works of art that can be displayed or used to sweep.

Please be aware that broom making is a physical task that requires the use of hands and feet, and moderate hand strength is recommended.
Making hand brooms mostly takes place in your lap. The feet are used to hold a dowel with twine, while the broom is made in the hands.
