Rock Climbing in Golden

Simply put, Golden rocks when it comes to rock climbing. The city and surrounding area are a rock climber’s paradise with some of the region’s most impressive indoor and outdoor options.

North Table Mountain is one of the more popular spots to rock climb and boasts numerous bolted moderate and easy routes that are easy to top rope. Climbers enjoy the Golden Cliffs almost year round because of the Southern exposure.

Clear Creek Canyon is another nearby popular spot to climb, and better suited for moderate climbers. Beginners may want to start elsewhere.

Lookout Mountain Crag is according to rockclimbing.com, a great place to bring your newbie friends. It’s not big, but offers some pretty fun moderate routes.

Earth Treks Climbing Center is the region’s largest climbing gym and features a purpose-built 29,000 sq ft building. The gym offers more than 28,500 sq ft of climbing with walls up to 48 ft high, including tons of bouldering and roped climbing for all ages and abilities. Earth Treks Golden boasts many amenities including a huge fitness center, dedicated strength training area, yoga room, outdoor patio, and locker room facilities with all the bells and whistles.

Golden Community Center Climbing Wall is located in the Golden Community Center and offers a place for beginners to learn top rope climbing and boulder skills, and advanced climbers to keep their skills polished. Climbers 12 and over may attend a certification clinic or “test out” to climb unsupervised during public climbing hours. Climbers may also become belay certified to belay others (4 years and older) during unsupervised climbing hours.
